Getting out of Greece..

Ok so our main plan was to hitch hike as often as possible. In some places that’s not a problem but in others it can be. We were give a ride to the town by Jerilyn’s friend and after finding the bus was twice expensive as the train was and the train didn’t leave for another 4 hours we decided to try hitch hiking again.

One of the first hurdles to get over is where to stand. Its best to get out of the main down town area as most people are just going local from there.. We finally found the road to get out of town but after 45 minutes (trust me it seams much longer when your standing on the side of the road) we thought it would be best to try somewhere else spicily after two girls from Lithuania were picked up in 10 minutes after they passed us. Someone took pity on us as we lifted our packs and said he would take us to a better spot..

Well I guess everyone has a different opinion of where a better spot is because he drove us around and we ended up further into the city but on a different road.

Well we looked at our surroundings and decided to keep walking.. 4 kilometers later we waited again this time for an hour before we started walking again. And we finally sat and looked a t a sign we think said “Bus Stop.”  We finally gave up hitch hiking out of Kalamata when I recognized the bus we had taken to get there three days before.. Knowing it would be half the price of the regular bus and only 15 minutes behind we opted to toss out our sign for Athens...

Well to add insult to the injury of having to wait most of the day without getting a ride the bus took extra long and the train connection went always to the airport before doubling back to Athens.. By the time we made it there it was very late and we had no idea where to stay. The train station was not the most modern place where they have things like tourist information and very tired from the day we gave in to a person soliciting a hostel that we were told was very close..
